What are the top 10 things to do for first time in D.C.?

I will be in DC June 19-23. I have never been there and am really excited to go. I have a reservation to the capital. I heard that the Washington Monument you need to be there by 7:30 am to get tickets. Is this true?

What about good cheap food?

For a first time visitor to the city what would be some of your favorite things to do or suggest?

I am a 15 year old boy. My school just went to DC this November so I think I can give you the best answers. I really enjoyed the monuments. Lincoln, Jefferson, White House, Capitol, Washington Monument. Wait in line to go up the Washington Monument. I was dissapointed that we didn't and really wanted to. Go to the Capitol and get the full tour. It is extremely interesting and they teach you a lot of neat tricks about the building and show you where some famous mens desks were. Arlington Cemetary is amazing and it is almost un-American to go w/o viewing changing of the guards. Look in your family history and see if there is anyone in your family buried there and find their grave. Mt. Vernon was cool but it is a one time thing. It is kind of boring when the old ladies are talking to you but when you get to go on your own is when it gets fun. Don't go there w/o a schedule you won't have as much fun. Smithsonians are ok i didn't really care for air and space but i really wished natural history would have been open. Just look around and walk everywhere you will see more stuff and get to cherish it more. Have Fun!

Reply:be there earlier than 7 am- long lines. see the spy museum %26amp; it takes days to see the Smithsonian buildings which are all free. The old post office tower is free %26amp; is the 2nd tallest in d.c. DO THE DUCK I was on the sitting duck %26amp; got to drive it while in the river. do "Georgetown". the streets are usually blocked off to cars for the security of some big shot so bring the camera all the time. Just ride the bus %26amp; see the layout of the town. The train station is cool. I had $.75 breakfast at the hostel on 11th %26amp; K st. %26amp; there are BK %26amp; mickey d's all over. The Holocaust Museum is good, if you can take it
Reply:You can get same day tickets at the Monument - the booth opens at 8:30 AM, and it is good to get there early. However, if you go on a weekday you might be able to show up later. You can also pay a fee and reserve the tickets ahead of time.

There is a lot of places to find cheap food in Washington. Spend some time checking out the food court in Union Station. Go to Adams Morgan or Chinatown and try an inexpensive ethinic eatery (Meskerem's or Fasika's ethiopian in Adams Morgan and Eat First in Chinatown are standouts)

You're starting in the Capitol, so far so Good.

Walk Pennsylvania Avenue from the Capitol to the White House to experience a little of L'Enfant's Plan and to visit all the stuff on the way (Archives, Navy Memorial, Old Post Office, Freedom Plaza).

Walk the Monuments and Memorials, Washington Monument, Constitution Gardens, WWII Memorial, Vietnam Veterans' Memorial, Korean War Veterans' Memorial, LIncoln Memorial, FDR Memorial, Jefferson Memorial. You can do this in the evening, when the lit up memorials ae just beautiful, and when the rest is closed.

Go to one of the Smithsonian Museums, depending on your preferences. I really like Air and Space, the American Indian Museum, Natural History, while the American History Museum is closed, but there are also wonderful Art Museums and of course the National Zoo.

Visit the National Gallery of Art.

Visit the Holocaust Memorial.

Immerse yourself in some DC nightlife - see the 6 PM free show at the Kennedy Center, or go to one of the many plays - DC is a huge theatre town, and half price tickets are available daily at Ticketplace, at 407 Seventh Street, NW.

Visit a Jazz club in U street or a rock or folk club in Adams Morgan.

Visit a neighborhood - Adams Morgan, Chinatown, Shaw, whatever, to see how everyday Washington lives.

If you have time, go to a Garden - the Arboretum, Hillwood, or maybe the Enid Haupt Garden on the Mall.

Reply:See the monuments at night. There is less of a crowd and they are still as gorgeous as ever. Also see them during the day to get a different view of them. I don't really know about getting tickets to the Washington Monument

You might want to go to the National Zoo.

For a meal and shopping go to Union Station.

Don't be afraid to ride the metro, it will get you around DC rather quickly and inexpensively, but also walk and see the sights as well. Enjoy your trip!

code and data it manipulates and keeps both safe from outside interface and misuse.

Inheritence is the process by which one object acquires the properties of another object.

Polymorphism is the feature that allows one interface to be used for general class actions.

Creating a pure virtual function allows you to put a member function in an interface without being forced to provide a possibly meaningless body of code for that member function. At the same time, a pure virtual function forces inherited classes to provide a definition for it.

I'd say D, because time fluctuates way too much for someone to define it like that.

I've never been one to keep track of time, and it seems to be at random when I look at the clock and realize that either five minutes have passed, or five hours have passed! Both periods of time can feel the same to me, so there's no telling how much time has passed if I don't have a clock nearby.

Also, being a forgetful person often seems to speed up the time before a deadline.

Or, if you're waiting for something, time seems to inch by very slowly.

Sometimes, though, you'll have your good days, where everything is going well, and you smile. It's times like these where you feel you really have a hold on life, and time moves by just fine.

But, that never happens to me. :P

Apartments there are mostly going to coincide with the school year. Towards the end of the school year, most people will be giving their notices. I imagine May and June probably have the most vacancies. Once the school year starts again in August I think you will be hard pressed to find anything.
Reply:time of year has very little to do with real estate deals. The market has everything to do with it. Basic supply and demand. Currently, there is very little demand for rental properties...or sale properties....in Centreville Virginia. Rent now... and know that you are in the drivers seat. Even if there is no deal advertised, YOU can ask for the first month rent to be free. You can ask for them to accept less than ideal credit, you can ask for them to paint the place. Usually money is the best thing to ask for, and usually free rent is the best thing to ask for because the rent would be lost anyways. Find what area you like, then no more than two weeks before you need to move go to them and ask for the first 30days to be free. If they baulk, offer the deposit and second months rent paid at time of lease. For apartments, dont believe the prices they advertise. Some are outragous. Often the Washington Post and the real estate listings will reflect more reasonable market prices.

I also learned why we referred to the years since Jesus' birth as A.D. ("In the Year of our Lord"), although, at the time, I wondered why we didn't call it A.C. ("After Christ"), not realizing until later that there *is* *no* "after Christ" - "Jesus Christ, is the same, yesterday, today, forever!" After becoming a Christian, I realized, even more thoroughly, how significant this division of time is! Sometime later, I realized that the early Christians did not observe "birthdays". Since *only* pagans/non-Christians observed birthdays for several years - maybe centuries - after Jesus' birth year, His *actual* year of birth was mis-calculated. This, in *no* way, detracts from the significance of the event!

Of course, Jews, Muslims, Chinese, and others use different systems of calculating what year it is according to their own calendars. This became even *more* evident at the advent of the "Faux Millinneum" - Jan. 1, 2000, when some people made reference to the fact that it wasn't the "Millennium" according to other calendar systems. Most people, nevertheless, use the B.C. and A.D. system for convenience of commerce with the "Western" or "Christian" world. Reply:YOu really have your facts screwed up. Jesus didn't split time. Some of his followers decided to do so several hundred years after Jesus died. Some monk back calculated how long it had been since Jesus' birth and named the years according to that but he was off by 4 years. So by the Gregorian Calendar, Jesus was born in the year 4 BC That really shows the power of Christ, doesn't it. Jesus was born in the year 4 Before Christ. Brilliant.

And it is such a "perfect" calendar that they forgot to put a zero between BC and AD, so that even though Jesus was born in 4 BC, by the time 4 AD came around he was 7 years old, not 8. Got math?

Of course, the Ancient Greeks had their own year numbering systems as do the Chinese and the Jews and countless other cultures.

The Bible even says, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." If you went to court with over 70,000 traffic tickets, imagine the jail time!! Youd be in there FOREVER! Now, no one is going to reach perfection, but "God is love" and thus sent His only son, Jesus. Those are extremely demanding requirements, It would also be useful to know how much flexing the "flexible hose" does.

300°C is quite high (for comparison, though not really relevant, this is nearly the melting point of lead) I suspect that there may not be anything much better than what you are using now, and routine replacement may be unavoidable.

I have a 2006 Golf TDI. It has been taking along time to warm up in cold mornings (-25°C).?

Sometimes when I drive to work (30 minute drive) it doesn't even warm up. I am talking about the temp. gauge for the engine. I have been told it should be at 90°C and it doesn't even reach that. Has this problem happened to anyone else? Is this a thermostat problem or is it a thing with volkswagon diesel vehicles? Thanks

The VW TDI won't warm up just by leaving it idle. You need to make the engine work hard before it will throw any heat. Basically this means you need to be driving down the road. Are you doing mainly city driving? TDIs have a tendancy to cool down and thus have a harder time throwing warm heat. The colder the outside temp., the worse it is. But you may want to give the VW service dept. a call and ask them if this is something that needs to be looked at.

Fuse, 1 each.
Reply:Look to a blown fuse, or perhaps a fusible link.
Reply:try checking the fuses. all that stuff could be on the same fuse depending on what vehicle you have. make sure none of them are blown.
Reply:Sounds like a wiring problem of sorts. Not sure what kind of vehicle you drive, but there should be relays and fuses under the hood. Try checking them to make sure that they are not burnt out. If they seem good, it's time to find a talented, honest technician to sort you out. Normally, an air conditioning electrical problem will be all unto itself. Good luck.

I was wondering whats the 0 to 60 time for the dodge charger and magnum with the road and track performance group package and also the chrysler 300c. I have went to several different website( caranddriver, motortrend,autotrader,carpoint, etc) and each website gives me times ranging from 5.5 to 6.3. What do you think.

Those times sound about right. I have a 2007 Charger R/T. My two best 0-60 times are 5.78 and 5.50. My charger is still stock (that will change later :)) 5.50 was achieve with an air temp of 51F and less than a 1/4 tank of fuel with ESP on.

My Charger is an stock 2007 R/T with 5.7 Hemi rear wheel drive. Wife's car is an 2005 Magnum R/T...have not done the 0-60 on that one......yet :)

With my 05 Magnum R/T AWD (mopar CAI %26amp; resonators removed, Fuse #17 pulled- disable Electronic Stability Program) -BEST- 0 to 60 mph was 5.5 seconds and 1/4 mile was 14.0 seconds @ 99MPH.

Reply:Not knowing where you are (state) it is hard to say for sure. Here in Texas with NO prior felonies she is probably looking at 5 years probation. Depending on the Judge's stand on drug related offenses, she may do 1 year and come out with 3-5 years probation afterwards. Like I said, it's hard to say for sure not knowing where you are, and even then really.
Reply:Time also depends on their probation violations, past violations prior to probation, and other convictions. I had a friend who had 2 felony charges and a few convictions for obtaining a meth lab as well as blue dolphin pills, etc. He served 7 years plus community service hours.

Every time I start my computer up, the Common folder in C:\Program Files\Common comes up. Why?

There is nothing in the folder at all, so do I need it? Is there a way to tell the computer to stop bringing it up at start up? It is really quite annoying, it's bothersome to have to close the folder before I get started, plus it takes time to load up. Any suggestions? Thanks ahead of time!

in the RUN dialogue box type in MSCONIFG and press ENTER

This should bring up a window, there is a STARTUP tab, click on it

Inside the startup tab there is a list of items with checkboxes on the left hand side of those items, find the one that says C:\Program Files\Common and uncheck it, click apply and ok to close the window...

The computer will ask you to restart, DO IT

After you restart a window will show saying that you used msconfig, and etc... just check DON'T SHOW AGAIN at the bottom of that screen and you'll be all set :)

He would send $50 on month and $100 the next month and nothing the next.. I could not depend on his support so I filed for child support. Now he is requesting a paternity test and wants to come all the way to FL for the hearing (when it can be done via phone). I believe he is just trying to prolong the process. Im not worried about the paternity part because he signed the birth certificate so child support will not pay for that and neither will he. Now he says he is not sending anything to help take care of his child until the order is final because child support will not record what he sent. So now Im struggling to provide for my daughter on my own. The child support process is time consuming!! What can or should I do? Please give me some suggestions!!

Whoever wrote that obviously has no idea how expensive it is to raise a child. Child support usually doesn't pay for a whole lot, so to say a woman is "living off" of child support is hilarious. It is simply not possible to live off of the little bit of support a single mother gets. Men who don't care for their children are "deadbeats, @ssholes, and losers", to put it kindly. Call your child support worker every day. EVERY day. They will get sick of hearing from you and work your case faster. Tell them what you are going through, let them know how you are struggling. It's tough, I know. I have raised my daughter for the past 8 years with zero child support. It makes me so angry when men resent the money they have to pay in support, which, in most cases, barely covers daycare. They owe their child that money, it has nothing to do with liking the child's mother. This goes for women who are ordered to pay support, too.

Eventually, if the paternity test proves he's the father, he'll be ordered to pay child support (hopefully including back payments). If he still doesn't pay, look into garnishing his wages. This is where his employer is ordered by the Court to pay part of his paycheck directly to you. Of course, if he changes jobs, you'd have to follow him from job to job to keep up the wage garnishment. Good luck. Your daughter is lucky to have you. I know it's hard.
Reply:My first reaction would be to say it was probably a man who wrote that answer, but there are women who would say the same thing. I saw a case on Dr Phil one time last year, where a man was trying to get a court to say that he could sign his rights away to a child that was a result of a one night stand, and that he would have no financial responsibility for this child, as he wanted nothing at all to do with it. This is why I think that anyone, married or single, needs to really stop and think of the consequences of sex BEFORE they have it. The only completely fool-proof method of preventing a pregnancy is abstinence or complete hysterectomy. Even birth control or surgical procedures are not fool-proof. There are even documented cases of women who have no uterus, having abnominal pregnancies. Therefore, if someone, be it man or woman, is not prepared to care for a child, they need to not have sex. Just because he decided later on that he didn't want this child, doesn't get him out of a moral and financial obligation to his child. Even if he doesn't pay anything now, trust me, the court can back date his child support. A child deserves child support. It is not good enough for a woman to simply do what she has to in order to support her child. The child deserves to have everything they need and not go without.

Give it time. Truth will prevail.

BTW: Go back and read the last question this person who you are speaking of asked 4 weeks ago, way before you asked your initial question. She has issues with women getting child support. It wasn't about you, it is just because she is a jerk. The majority of us are not that ignorant about child support and a parents responsibility.
Reply:First off he is correct any money he sends you that does not go through the court will not be counted as child support, sorry. Secondly he does not have to be present in Flordia for the child support hearing and since he signed the birth certificate it will be a cold day in most judges chambers before the even grant him permission to seek a DNA test. My oldest nephew signed papers she mentioned to someone it wasnt his kid he wanted a DNA done which she agreed to until the time came then refused it. He took her to court the court denied it since he signed the papers and the only way to get a DNA was to petition the state supreme court which costs 15000 up front which obviously he's not going to do. You need to provide a copy of the paternity papers to whoever you filed child support with if you filed with the states attorny general they will handle everything on your behalf. Furthermore and I dont often suggest this to anyone there is assistance out there for ppl that need help foodstamps, aid for families with dependant children, medical assistance swallow your pride and get it.. You mean, for workers compensation? All workers comp losses are supposed to be reported to the department of labor and industry within 3 working days, and should have been reported to your supervisor immediately.

If you didn't report it to your boss at the time, you're not likely to be able to do anything now about it. Let me rephrase: you can file a claim, but it will probably be denied. It's really hard to prove an injury that happened a year ago, when it wasn't bad enough to treat back then. It will be VERY easy for the insurance company to defend a denial - because LOTS AND LOTS of stuff could have happened between then and now.

Now I believe that from my frame of reference, the light has not experienced the passing of time - is that right? - but the sound has (as time slows down as one approaches light speed.

Anyway, just as light reaching us from stars light years away tells us about what has happened in the past, if we could reverse the light from my birth, in it's direction (say by a hypothetical but improbable mirror), in 30 years time we would see the event over again - and be looking back 30 years into the past.

But with the sound, if we could encode it's information into light wavicles, we would be looking only 1000 seconds into the past - or so it would seem.

It this apparent oddity explained by the faster rate at which time passed for the sound (ie. less time dilation)

Not as a competeing goof who has a lot of time on their hands. Don't be petty or jealous. Life goes on, your friend if you support and love your friend will be there for you. If you be grudge them for finding love and be mean with jealousy youll lose a good friend. Be strong the first couple months of a relationship are always spent together with their boo's(lol) but then they always want their friends

Although your employer might not find out through a background check or something the easiest way for them to find out is that I would find it highly unlikely that you would be able to sustain good performance at both jobs for any longer period of time.

First of all, is the Hep C infection already cleared in your system after interferon administration and treatment? Also, what type of infections are you diagnosed with and what antibiotics have been given to you such that the doctors are not giving you anything anymore?

Because the only thing I can think of why you get infection all the time is that you are either immunocompromised or the infection in your system has already developed antibiotic resistance to all the antibiotics you have taken. Not following the drug regime could induce this situation.

Pernicious anemia is not exclusive to only a certain type of symptoms or blood count standards in order for it to fit a certain person's category (same goes with other diseases, where some people present as asymptomatic). The hallmark of this loosely-termed disease is vitamin B12 deficiency, whereupon your antibodies attack the synthesis of intrinsic factor--a factor involved in vitamin B12 synthesis in your stomach.

I can only speculate that giving you ivIg would only exacerbate the said situation above. With respect to the antibiotic administration, it may be of different nature.

The problem with the improved performance is percentages. As you get faster you can not continue to improve at the rate you did when you were not as fast. Your times are not world class so the drop of 7/10 of a second is not the same as her drop in time. Plus the fact she was out of track. She could not compete, and in less than 2 years went from not being a national class runner to being better than anyone the world has ever seen. That is what caused people to assume she had medical assistance. The fact that her body changed dramatically at the same time also contributed to the idea she was using steroids. The problem in track today is if anyone improves some will think it had to be because of drugs.

1) She took time off from competition, returned, and was suddenly the greatest sprinter ever.

2) Her body composition was significantly different, with far greater muscle mass.

You know they actually cut out your first scar when you have another C-Sec?... so it's kinda like a mini tummy tuck anyway =)

I don't think it's ever safe to have a tummy tuck, no surgery is safe, not that you shouldn't do it - If it makes you feel more confident i say go for it and you might aswell do it while they're chopping you up, I personally don't think the recovery time would be that much longer than after a normal C-sec.

Reply:Truthfully, my opinion (and that's all that it is). Pregnancy is taxing on the body even if you do have a c-section. It's still considered a major surgery. When you have a c-section, you are sore afterwards. Afterwards, I would hope that you would have some help with the baby b/c you are going to be recovering for a lot longer than just a couple of days.

I would wait. Although it would be convenient with your time off from work, I would look at all the angles. The pros and cons.

You need to place the radiobuttonlist inside of a container that is on the page. You can use a asp:ContentPlaceholder or asp:Panel. Place one of those on the page and you can add the radiobutton list to that control.

When is the right time to go to the hospital? I do not want to go and be sent home. But I also cannot go into full labor due to other medical problems. I have had 4 pretty strong contractions since 12:00 and it is now 12:42.

I'd go now...better to go and make sure everything is okay instead of staying at home and having to go by ambulance. They might have to do an emergency c-section if you go into full labour.

Reply:how far apart are contractions? ring your hospital and tell them this, at 36 weeks your baby would not be too young to be born.

"That's funny" is correct. I live in Pennsylvania and The OC is on Fox Thursday night at 9 pm here, too...but not until November 2 when the new season premieres. They may end up running some of last season's episodes before that, but I don't know about that yet.

You have not indicated how long ago you had your D %26amp; C. It is possible that you may have ovulated following your D %26amp; C. If you have had unprotected sex during this time, it is very possible. If your period does not resume within a month, you should follow up with your gynecologist.

Consider the geometric properties of a circle when making this function. The length of the wire should correspond to the radius of the circle. (In your case, you are actually doing a 7-degree arc, but it is the same concept)

From there, have your computer calculate the number of seconds * your framerate. This will give you the total number of frames you have to move the pendulum 7 degrees.

Then have it calculate the distance the pendulum will have to move each frame in order to move 7 deg.

Then have the computer do it: Move the pendulum the correct distance each frame cycle.
