Your dog doesn't know what to do. She is sensitive to your emotions whether you're happy or sad, you need to be very aware of how you act around her during these different moods. For example, when you're happy you probably play games with her and take her for walks and generally pay plenty of attention to her. If all this stops when you cry (and she hears you sniff) then she will associate your sadness with her being rejected and getting no attention, which she won't understand as she will assume she has done something wrong. As she is instantly hiding she definitely associates your sad noises with something scary for her. I can only assume that at some time he has been reprimanded during your sad moments - maybe you speak sharper to her without realising.

The problem is easily remedied, you just need to show a her love and attention during these times. Obviously you do not feel like playing games and such while you are feeling low yourself, but you could stroke and pet her. Talk to her, tell her your problems, it may even help you through whatever has caused your sadness, and remember she will never criticise or give unwanted advice to your problems - a definite advantage!
Reply:Simple solution , stop sniffing your dog or is this payback time for dog sniffing you.

Reply:don't sniff - get a tissue and blow your nose
Reply:You dog is probably got it in his head that when you sniff he takes it as a cue to get attention. If you have ever rewarded him by giving him loves or kindof laughing at him while crying he will think it is what he is supposed to do when you sniff. Try to just ignore him, and look away. Eventually he will get the point, and he wont try to get your attention.
