Why did they have 2 have Marissa be the one that died? In real life did she have 2 quit the o.c. for a movie or sumthing?

Along time ago on "The O.C."............................
Yea she wanted to leave the OC to pursue movies. God I miss the OC so much well the good ole days when they it was Ryan, Marissa, Seth, and Summer. I stopped watching after Marissa died. :[
Reply:I read that it was mainly Mischa Barton wanting to move on with her career, thinking she was the breakout star. When they killed her off, because she was a central character, ratings went south. And it's interesting I think that I haven't really heard anything about Barton in a couple of years, except she's in an upcoming film, her first in many, many years!
Reply:All the actors on the show kind of wanted out, but she was really the first who wanted to move on and felt the show was holding her back. She wasn't planning on returning for the next season so they killed her off. It was a great thing too, her acting and character sucked. Season 4 was way better without her.
Reply:first of all i am an o.c. fanatic and i dearly miss it!! but mischa left the show because she thought she could land more movie roles and go on to better things.. she died how she was supposed to if you watch the fourth season they explain it!! remember ryan saved her in tj in season one he gave her three more years
Reply:The ratings were falling and her agent told her if would be best to leave the show before it left the air. Marissa said that there was nothing left to do with the character because it had already been through pretty much everything. It was time to move on. I thought the show was weird without her.
