just talk to him. that's why you want his number anyway. if he smiles alot and asks you questions then ask him for his #. And guys like it when a girl shows interest.

If you have never talked to him before, and are shy to talk with other people around, then why not write a little note down, and tell him u are curious to talk with him, and give him your number instead....I am much older than you, and most guys are still pretty flattered when a girl takes the first step. Don't be so afraid of rejection. If you never try, you will be angry that you didnt take the opportunity an "blew it!"
