If you have had 2 or more c-sections, what was it like the second time in comparison to the first?

Was it more/less painful? How was the recovery? Were you more/less nervous? Did anything go wrong? Please add any other info you think would help the second time around :)

My second c section was less painful and I had an easier recovery. I wasn't as nervous with it..I guess because I knew what to expect afterwards. With my first one, I took me a while to recover from it. But with my second one, I was back at work when my baby was just 3 weeks old. (I still had to take it easy of course, and it was against my doctor's advice) but I did it. Where as, with my first one, there was no way I would have been able to go back to work when he was 3 weeks old. But, try not to worry, because yes, the second time around is a whole lot easier and less painful then the first time around. Good luck
Reply:My 2nd was better than my first and the 3rd was better than my 2nd. I think the thing that helped me out the most was being able to ask questions about what I was feeling while I was feeling it. It can be pretty overwhelming.

I wouldn't say that it was less painful, but I was more aware of what to expect so it wasn't as scary. The recovery wasn't so bad either because I knew what I had to do already.

The best thing that I can recommend is asking questions while they are doing the procedure. I had no idea what they were doing or why I was feeling the way I was feeling and I panicked (sp?). My next c-section the anesthesiologist (sp?) was very helpful in answering all my questions and explaining that what I was feeling was normal and why I was feeling it. So ask questions if you start to get scared!! It is so reassuring!!
Reply:I had two emergency c-sections. The second time I was in labour and found recovery a little more difficult...of course, I was chasing a two-year-old the second time and the first time I spent two weeks in the hospital...baby was premature. I was less nervous the second time, and was actually happier the second time, as I was awake through the procedure. The only thing that went wrong was that I had a minor allergic reaction to the anasthetic...but nothing that Benedryl can't handle! It was no more painful, but abdominal surgery is never a good time. I had a marvelous OB..in fact, I have an altar to him in my home. Just kidding...but he's such a good doc!

First, be patient with yourself. You are going to take a little longer to heal because now you are chasing two (it is only two, right?). If you can get someone to help you out by taking the first one for a couple of days, through the day while you adjust to life with #2, it's a good idea. My mother-in-law did that for me for the first week my daughter was home...it was her idea too! But it helped me so much.

Second...stay on top of any pain. Take your pain meds a little before you think you're going to need them. Your body heals better if it's not in pain.

Third...communicate your fears/misgivings/concerns to your OB. He/she is there for you and (usually) is interested in putting you at ease.

Fourth...relax. Set your mind at ease. Laugh as much as you can. Do things which are happy and full of life, and fun and promise, leading up to your cesarian. Push worry as far from you as possible. Where the mind goes, the body follows.
Reply:My second time i recovered alot faster and it wasnt painful at all. I was up and walking around 12 hours after my c-section.
Reply:Im scared of my second ceserean too, I enjoyed my first ceserean, very positive experience I feel like that recovery will be longer and more painful because the incision will be made along the scar tissue of the previous C. From what I have gathered, the second time around is easier, so here is hoping for the both of us!
Reply:I was more nervous for my 2nd c-section, mainly because I knew it was going to happen. My 1st one was emergency after 21 hours of labor, and my 2nd was planned. It was very easy. I just went into the hospital, and 2 hours later, I had my daughter. The recovery was basically the same. I was glad that I had decided to do it.
Reply:My second cesarean was a lot easier than my first, because it was planned, and I already knew what to expect. The pain meds I was given didn't hurt, either!
