Is it worth my time & $ to recharge my toyota camry A/C by myself or should i take to toyota service?

The A/C barely cools. As far as I can tell the compressor/condensor/evaporator are working fine.

When the a/c wasn't blowing that cool in my 94 camry, I recharged it and it worked for a while. But it ended up that I needed a new evaporator. So I would charge it first yourself, that way you will only be out a couple of bucks instead of taking it to toyota where they will charge you possibly just to look at it. But if the charging it yourself doesn't work, I would take it to them. Good luck!
Reply:better to leave it to professionals, specialy pre-1995,,,but you need not take it to toyota almost any one but a car dealer
Reply:I had a 1994 Nissan Maxima last year where the A/C would blow hot. I tried to charge it myself but the "freon" wouldn't stay or go in. I took it to Valvoline where I usually get my oil changed. They suggested I take it to Jiffy Lube. 20 minutes later and ~$140, good as new and blew cold for the rest of the summer.
