Testing a/c in the winter time?

How can I test the a/c of the used car I just bought? It's always freezing outside so how do I know it's the a/c that's cold and not the air outside?

If it like most cars putting the defrost on will cycle the ac clutch. As to the fact you have it on heat will cycle the ac but you will not get any cold air.
Reply:put it in a heated garage.
Reply:I just tested mine last week, let the car warm up with the heater on than turn on the ac, it should cool down in there pretty quickly. It was 16 degrees out when I checked mine, and it is still working just fine.
